shit is getting legit
we have been brewing in full force and are getting closer to having our new system up and running. in the mean time we brewed a couple new batches of hoppopotamus, monster biscuit, and hope you don’t die bitter. today we are working on a new recipe named “hoist that rag red.” stay classy.
Brewfest was a huge success for everyone involved! Thanks to those came. Hate for those who did not. Brewing resumes tomorrow! More updates and events coming soon, we are working very hard on legit brew and are too busy to chat with you right now. Sorry. Tell your mom we said “hey.”
Legitness
Haven’t been keeping this bitch up to date, but there is beer and news a stirrin we promise! Legit Brew has been brewing steadily the past few weeks, and have a lot of great beers on the horizon. Updates on those shortly, there are more important things such as:
Knoxville Brewfest 2011! (knoxvillebrewfest.com) Saturday June 25.
Legit Brew will have an official table there in the homebrew section with three different styles of legit deliciousness! Come on down and drink a beer with us! Proceeds from the event support Cure Duchenne (a charity organization for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy)
We are super excited, and hope you are too. The legit banner we are making alone will be enough reason for you to come down. More updates soon (probably after Bonnaroo and a couple days recovery time). Legit out.
SPRING IS HERE!!! BREWING OUTDOORS HAS RETURNED!!!
We have officially brewed our first batch of 2011! It was a long winter so we have heard; we were hibernating through all of it. But now that warmer weather is upon Knoxville USA, Legit Brewing is back in action. Got a couple of batches bottled last week that had just been hanging out since December. Jesus Christ SuperBeer will be ready in time for Easter (also known as Zombie Jesus Day). Yesterday we brewed a super hoppy pale that we named ReviveAle, for obvious reasons. Time for short-shorts, bike rides, and rooftop/patio beer drankin!
cold weather = strong dark beer
got two new winter brew currently fermenting. first is toby’s black hole imperial stout. toby = you. and! the soon to be world famous butt brown nutty ale. a hazelnut infused butt-brown tinted demon inspired by the legit copy writer brock bodeez. both should be ready in time for new years (or sooner depending on how fast all the glorious sugars are turned into a high alcohol winter treat) enjoy.
deadly deadly beer
brewed a batch yesterday named ‘hope you don’t die bitter’
a bitter ale, obviously, that was named from the first batch of the recipe a couple years ago in which mercury was added by way of the captain breaking a thermometer in the pot. although no one we know died (we gave it all to the homeless) this version should be less deadly. (we have a digital thermometer now, 2010!)
also recorded a legit session with cliff mitchell, should be up next week.
happy turkey day
hoppowhawhah?!
turned out another batch of hoppopotamus yesterday. that makes one in bottles already and one on the way. this one will be continually re-brewed because…its delicious. full bodied pale flagship ho! this session included vinyl doses of don covay, a night at the opera (queen), and etta baker & cora philips. get some in you!
hazaa!
brewed a strong bock style beer today. after drinking some stone imperial stout and a very large bottle of some fine trappist (thanks to the wild card) we named it bwak bock. initial taste of unfermented goodness was amazing! we can’t wait until this one is ready. have a good weekend …we will.
brewed the jesus christ superbeer today! a strong and dark …yet forgiving stout. now we just gotta wait for it to rise again (into a delicious beer). while looking around to get ideas for the label (which will include black jesus and will also glow in the dark …obviously) i found these black jesus clips made by the guy who produces the boondocks. there’s also some pretty legit clips called “dear john witherspoon” check it out at:
http://www.youtube.com/user/boondocksbootleg
also …black jesus apparently drinks sierra nevada. we approve.
cold weather = winter brew
brewed our first winter seasonal today—cold war stout. originally being made for the cold war kids that we thought might come by and do a legit session, but they ended up not having time in the tour. so…good luck for you. a stronger stout brewed with a few select spices. its just a stepping stone on the way to the recipe we have planned for next week: JESUS CHRIST SUPERBEER —the mother of all winter seasonals (or the son? wait, wasn’t it a trilogy? …nevermind) good lord are we excited about that one.
